Learn how to do it later!

May 1, 2014 by TSJC 5 Comments

“If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re not sure if you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later!” – Richard Branson

When I launched my Facebook page 3 months ago I had hoped that within a year I might have a thousand people following the page, within 3 months I had 8 000 people, I had produced over 150 pictures and had so many people chatting to me and excited about doing some cooking! Even though I have never done anything like this, and until recently didn’t know the difference between a tweet and a twerk (they are different, it’s not just present and past tense!) I knew that I was being offered an opportunity and that I was going to have to do some serious learning.

I did the same thing to myself a decade ago when, without any experience or formal training, I decided to open a restaurant, it was a challenge but after 10 years the restaurant has grown and done on to win several awards including Johannesburg’s Favourite Neighbourhood restaurant. I loved the energy and the challenge of that project and ten years later, purely by chance I find myself facing a whole new challenge, create a website that people will want to use! I hope you like what we have done with the page, I look forward to chatting to hearing from you, to interacting with you and creating a page and recipes that feed your imagination and your passion for food.

I have worked with a great team to create the website, doing that was beyond my pay grade, let me know what you think about the look and feel and remember this is your site and I would love to hear from you on how we can make it the perfect site.

So to those of you who say you can’t cook I want you to take a look at the Secret Jozi Chef as your amazing opportunity – say yes – and I will teach you how to do it!

Remember if you love it share it!

Michelle we are all great chefs, we just need to relax and let our stomachs do the thinking. There are a few skills to learn but the rest is pure taste, I can show you how to paint, but every masterpiece is your own.
