Paul Maciel

Paul Maciel, known as The Secret Jozi Chef, has been in the food industry for over 20 years, having started the award winning restaurant Pronto, before moving on to create The Cookery the much loved social cooking based in Joburg. Paul has a belief that cooking is a natural process, and that if you love eating good food, then you can totally cook great food. With Paul’s Luso Indian background, he has many wonderful memories around food, especially of his mother, grandmother and aunts (and his dad of course) always creating a wonderful and happy space where the sharing of the knowledge of food was almost as important as the food itself.
