  • COVID 19 HEALTH & SAFETY REGULATIONS

    The following Covid-19 Regulations to be in place until further notice:
    These measures will remain in effect until such time as there are new or additional guidelines.
    The following precautions will be taken:
    1.  Hand sterilising stations will be available on entry and at each workstation, but as always we strongly recommend hand washing with water.
    2.  The venue will be sterilised between events and food safe anti bacterial/viral will be used to keep the kitchen safe during classes.
    3.  Public class sizes will be reduced to a maximum of 16 guests, minimum of 9/10 guests.
    4.  All guests will be required to register their details, temperatures and who they cooked with at the beginning of each event
    5.  There will be 6 possible work stations, only guests who arrive together will be permitted to cook together
    6.  To accommodate the groups, tickets will be sold in two's, but please note we can accomodate 2 possible groups of 3 or 4 in each public event, but this will need to be discussed with us.
    7.  Throughout the event all guests will be required to wear masks
    8.  We will still offer table seating after the class with as much spacing as possible, however should guests prefer not to eat in, we will allow take aways.
     9.  Events will now commence 17h30 for 18h00 to allow time for recording of information and to allow for an earlier end time
    To accommodate the change in bookings, events will be listed on our website but bookings will need to be done directly with us, on info@thecookery.co.za

  • Pasta Fresca Masterclass

    The beautiful and striking Iberian Peninsula is a mountainous region shared by both Portugal & Spain, we will be taking this as our inspiration for our event Iberian Discoveries, which will be a two part series.  The first event simply entitled Primero [Tuesday 28 July; 17h30 for 18h00; R550; Max 16 Tickets]will cover the first part of our journey and will tackle some of the proud food heritage of Portugal, including classic Pasteis de bacalhau, Caldo verde, Bifana (a delicious pork sandwich), Caldeirada de peixe, Pão de ló and lots more. [Please note this event will include shellfish & pork]     COVID 19 BOOKING:

    The second part of our series Iberian Peninsula, Seggundo [Thursday 30 July; 17h30 for 18h00; R550; Max 16 Tickets] which covers the delicious and bold flavours of Spain, influenced by the sea, north Africa and even France.  This menu will include Fabada Asturiana (A white bean & chorizo stew), a classic seafood paella, tortilla Espanola, Pisto (a Spanish ratatouille), gambas al ajillo (garlic prawns), gambas a la plancha (lemon grilled prawns) and Tarta de Santiago – a thin crusted almond tart.     Join us for Aegean Odyssey [20 August 2020; 17h30 for 18h00; R500; Max 16 Guests], this class is made up of wonderful recipes from around the Aegean Sea.  We will have dishes from Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and Crete.  The class will include quick make at home chicken souvla, a crazy good Melopita (a cheese and honey pie); Piyaz Salad; Lahmacun (Turkish mince topped pizza) and a selection of wonderful salads and side dishes with big bold flavours.     Our final event for August will be in keeping with our Indian class, and we will be heading further east for a South East Asian event.  Scents of the South East [Thursday 27 August 2020; 17h30 for 18h00; R500; Max 16 Guests] will be a perfumed visit to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines – imagine warming curries scented with lemongrass, galangal, ginger and all the spices needed to create magic.  Recipes will include lemongrass beef salad, 3 different curry pastes, Cambodian Fish & Prawn Amok, Prawn Tom Yum and Mango & Coconut Ice Cream to cool things off.   COVID 19 BOOKING:

Vouchers cost R500 per person or the limited R400 (access to the simpler #mondayswithmilo class only) and are valid for a full year and will cover the recipient for all relevant public classes (excludes Secret Sunday Brunch).  We like to customise every voucher so we need you to send us an email info@thecookery.co.za, saying who the voucher is for, whether it is for a single or a double ticket, and of course who the voucher is from.  We will then get you your customised voucher and the necessary payment details.
